Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) witnessed a digital firestorm this weekend as the trending hashtag #UnitedTFI turned from a show of solidarity into a battleground of accusations, apologies, and outrage.
Initially sparked as a unifying fan tag among Tollywood followers, United TFI quickly spiraled into controversy after doctored images of popular Telugu heroes, including Pawan Kalyan (PK) and Mahesh Babu (MB), began circulating. The most egregious cases involved personal morphs, including those allegedly targeting MB’s young daughter, which drew strong condemnation from across fandoms and public figures alike.
“Modda okka tweet eyyaledhu United TFI ani... andharu heroes medha morph esaru kabatti react ayyaru,” one fan account stated, expressing frustration at how the trend derailed.
In response to escalating criticism, multiple users associated with the trend issued public apologies, claiming the tag was misused by unrelated accounts and that original supporters had no role in the offensive content.
The apology, however, has not stemmed the tide. Several netizens demanded accountability and urged social media platforms to flag and remove abusive morph content, citing child protection concerns.
