UGC NET 2025 Answer Key Sparks Debate Among Candidates

No sooner had the UGC NET June 2025 answer key gone live than social media lit up with reactions—some celebratory, many confused, and a few downright furious.

From Telegram groups to X (formerly Twitter) threads, thousands of aspirants began dissecting each question. And while some found clarity, others were left scratching their heads.

🗣️ Students Point Out Ambiguities

In Paper II (English), how can William Blake’s ‘The Tyger’ be classified under Romantic irony? That’s just wrong,” said Sneha D’Souza, a postgrad student from Mumbai, who posted a photo of her question paper with highlighted text.

Similar confusion surfaced in subjects like Commerce and Education, where terminology and options led to a clash of interpretations.

“I’ve taught this paper for six years, and even I had to recheck a few options twice,” said Dr. N. Venkat, a NET mentor in Hyderabad.

💬 Coaching Institutes Weigh In

Several prominent NET preparation centers have published their own response keys. Some of them match NTA's official key—but not all.

“We found at least four questionable answers in Commerce,” said Rohit Verma, senior faculty at EduRise Institute, Delhi. “We’re encouraging students to file objections. That ₹200 per question may be annoying, but it’s worth it if you’re confident.”

🌐 Online Challenge Portal: A Mixed Bag

While most students appreciate the ease of logging in and viewing answer sheets, not everyone is thrilled about the non-refundable ₹200 challenge fee.

“Some of us are unemployed, preparing full-time,” said Priya Singh, a JRF aspirant from Patna. “This amount adds up quickly if you need to challenge multiple answers.”

Still, others saw it as a welcome change from the old days of submitting challenges by post.

“At least now you don’t have to chase a courier guy to meet a deadline,” joked Aditya Sharma, who attempted the Political Science paper.

🧑‍🏫 Experts Urge Calm and Caution

Despite the uproar, most teachers and examiners advise not to panic.

“Some discrepancies are inevitable in large-scale exams,” said Dr. Meenakshi Rao, an education policy analyst. “But the NTA does review challenges seriously. If your argument is backed with solid references, they often accept the correction.”

In fact, past trends show that several key revisions have taken place after candidate feedback—especially in Philosophy, Hindi, and Environmental Sciences, where subjective interpretation plays a bigger role.
