Wimbledon, London — Top seed Aryna Sabalenka powered past Belgian Elise Mertens in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), on Day 7 of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, becoming the first woman to reach this year’s quarterfinals.
Sabalenka, the world No. 1, overcame a brief rain delay and a gritty challenge from Mertens to close out the match in just under two hours on Centre Court.
