Redefining Premium Mobility

JSW MG Motor India is poised to revolutionize the luxury MPV segment with the MG M9 EV, slated for a July 2025 launch. Unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, this all-electric, three-row MPV combines futuristic design, limousine-like comfort, and sustainable performance. Priced between ₹65–75 lakh (ex-showroom), the M9 will be sold exclusively through MG’s premium Select dealerships, with bookings already open for ₹51,000.

Striking Design and Spacious Dimensions

The MG M9 EV, based on SAIC’s Maxus MIFA 9, boasts a commanding presence at 5,200mm long, 2,000mm wide, and 1,800mm tall, with a 3,200mm wheelbase—out-sizing rivals like the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire. Its sleek exterior features a trapezoidal grille, LED DRLs, split headlights, and power-sliding rear doors. Three elegant color options—Pearl Lustre White, Metal Black, and Concrete Grey—enhance its sophisticated appeal.

Luxurious Interiors and Advanced Features

Step inside the M9’s cognac brown leather-suede cabin, and you’re greeted by “Presidential” second-row captain seats with heating, ventilation, and eight-mode massage functions. A 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 7-inch digital cluster, and a JBL audio system elevate the experience. Dual panoramic sunroofs, 64-color ambient lighting, and three-zone climate control create a five-star suite on wheels. The third row offers AC vents and USB ports, ensuring comfort for all seven passengers.

Performance and Range

Powered by a 90 kWh NMC battery, the M9 delivers 245 bhp and 350 Nm of torque through a front-mounted electric motor, achieving a top speed of 180 kmph. Its WLTP-certified range is 430–550 km, though real-world estimates suggest 350–400 km. Charging from 10–80% takes 90 minutes with a 160 kW DC fast charger, while an 11 kW AC charger requires 10 hours for a full charge. Unique features like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging set it apart.

Safety and Technology

The M9 EV is equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-keeping aids. Seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating (Bharat NCAP pending) ensure top-tier safety.

Competitive Landscape

The M9 EV faces the Toyota Vellfire (₹1.22–1.32 crore, hybrid) and Kia Carnival (diesel), but its electric powertrain offers lower running costs and zero emissions. It also competes with upcoming EVs like the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9, positioning it as a value-driven luxury option.

Why It Matters

“The MG M9 EV redefines luxury travel with its blend of eco-friendly performance and first-class comfort,” says Ramesh Nair, Head of Product Planning at MG Select. With its competitive pricing and cutting-edge features, the M9 is set to attract chauffeur-driven elites and eco-conscious families alike. Deliveries begin in April 2025, promising a new era of sustainable luxury in India.
