Foxconn plans a massive manufacturing hub in UP's Greater Noida. This plant may surpass Bengaluru’s in size, boosting Apple's India production.
Apple’s top global supplier, Foxconn, is reportedly planning a major expansion in Uttar Pradesh, marking a pivotal moment for India’s electronics manufacturing scene. The Taiwanese company is eyeing 300 acres along the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, a move that could rival or even surpass the scale of its much-anticipated Bengaluru facility.
According to sources close to the matter, Foxconn is in preliminary talks to acquire 300 acres near the Yamuna Expressway for establishing its first northern India manufacturing hub. The location aligns with previous strategic interests shown by HCL-Foxconn in the region.
“This facility has the potential to be slightly bigger than the upcoming Bengaluru site, set to be Foxconn’s second-largest globally,” said a senior official involved in the discussions.
Proximity to Jewar Airport and Delhi-NCR
Presence of industrial corridors like YEIDA (Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority)
Strong existing tech ecosystem due to nearby Noida-Greater Noida Expressway
This move aligns with India’s push to become a global electronics manufacturing hub, shifting away from overdependence on China and Taiwan.
As of now, specific product lines haven’t been finalized, but it is expected the facility will:
Support Apple iPhone production
Possibly expand into electric vehicles (EVs), semiconductors, and digital health devices
Serve both domestic and international markets
“The Indian government proposed this industrial park to Foxconn last year. Talks are still at an early stage,” a government insider shared.
“This gives Foxconn a capacity safety net amidst global tariff uncertainties and geopolitical tensions. India is now seen as a viable manufacturing base for the future.”
“Foxconn’s shift towards India demonstrates its strategy to align with global supply chain diversification. India offers growth, resilience, and scalability.”
